Experienced Counsel Educating Clients Seeking Child Custody

We want you to be able to make intelligent, informed decisions regarding the custody of your children so we work hard to keep you advised of your options while we protect your interests. We can help you with any of the following matters:

  • Child custody — We will help you seek physical and legal custody of your children, while a divorce or custody case is pending (temporary custody) or permanently. Parent relocation will necessitate a modification of custody and we can handle these matters for either parent. We are experienced in filing motions for enforcement orders as well, if one parent fails to abide by an outstanding custodial order.
  • Visitation and parental access — We propose parenting plans that take into account your child's best interest and your rights as a parent. We will work with you to draft a plan to protect your holiday, weekend or regular visitation.
  • Paternity — When a child is born outside of marriage, a paternity action can establish the legal father-child relationship and an appropriate amount of child support. If a man does not believe he is the child's father, then he has the right to dispute paternity. If a man denies he is the father of the child, he may request a DNA genetic parentage test.
  • Mediation and collaboration — If you and your spouse are able to proceed cooperatively, mediation and collaboration may be an option for you to explore that can save you time and money. This approach leaves the important decisions up to the parties instead of a judge who is not familiar with your situation. We are trained in these alternative dispute methods and can inform you if they are right for your situation.  (see Life Story page)

It can take some time before child custody and visitation issues are finally approved by the court. In the meantime, requests for temporary orders regarding custody and visitation have to be filed. That is why finding the right divorce attorney early is important.

We stand by our clients from start to finish. We make sure to provide the answers that will help you make important decisions. Contact our office to schedule a free initial consultation about divorce. We are open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and available evenings and weekends by appointment. We accept Visa and MasterCard.
